Making Bank With PPV Advertising

By Mike Wong

Effective paid traffic sources can be difficult to find. Many have tried PPC marketing, but not many have tried contextual advertising. You may also see contextual advertising called pay-per-view (PPV) or cost-per-view (CPV) advertising.

In this form of advertising you pay for each pop-up that shows up on a computer with installed adware. Many users will install adware on their computer in exchange for playing free games or downloading free toolbars and screensavers. An example is Vomba which offers free wallpapers and screensavers that are bundled with its adware software. Adware often has a negative connotation, but most companies nowadays follow strict rules with regards to installing and uninstalling their adware software.

When utilizing PPV, you will be bidding on various urls and keywords. So when a user visits that keyword or url, they will be shown a popup on their computer with your ad on it. You are free to direct link to an offer, or design your own landing page from scratch. Just remember that you are limited by the dimensions of the popup. On a PPV network like MediaTraffic, you will be limited to a space of 750 x 550 pixels. Therefor, make sure that your ad is optimized around these size constraints.

Costs per popup will vary depending on the competition for the keyword or url. Minimum bids on the networks can get as low as 1 cent per view, but highly competitive targets can cost you much more. Keep in mind you are paying for each popup. You still pay, even if the user closes your popup right away.

Contextual advertising is attractive because of the low minimum bids, and fewer rules compared with the PPC networks. However, you will need to have a large budget and test everything. Some networks like TrafficVance have tremendous traffic for certain urls and you can burn through cash very quickly if you aren't watchful. Still, when you discover the right offer you have the potential to make a huge ROI from it.

If you are looking for a good source of traffic that is relatively unsaturated, then make sure you check out how contextual advertising works. Not everyone will be successful with it, but there are many who are finding it quite profitable. Give it a try, and start making money with it today. - 33377
