How To Make More With Google Adsense

By Michael Fleischner

I know it's hard to believe, but thousands of people are making money from Adsense. Adsense, the inverse of Google's Adwords system is a great way to earn a secondary income. However, the fact of the matter is that Adsense earnings alone wont make your rich. Ask website owners today about their earnings and you'll find only a few who make anything substantial. All that said, I've discovered a few techniques for increasing my Adsense earnings.

Your Adsense earnings are based on a variety of factors. This includes the ads you display, text, image, or both, and where you display them. Here are some key factors to consider before you place your Adsense code on your web site or blog. Certain placements on your web page can generate higher revenues and higher click throughs. The key is to use placements that have been proven to generate higher click through rates and therefore more revenue. Advertisements that are above the fold tend to perform better than those below.

Google has released a lot of information for advertisers regarding ideal placements and ad sizes. This information is based on reviewing data from across all of the advertisers withing the Google network. What is revealed in this information is that ads that appear on the top, left and bottom of the page, tend to have higher click through rates than other placements. Remember that this information is just a rule of thumb and doesn't hold true for every web site or web page.

For example, on content rich sites where users are reading specific content, ad blocks that flow with the text seem to perform well. Consider the behavior of your users and match your ad placement to their specific actions. Adsense ads can serve as a guide for users who are looking for relevant products or services related to the content on your web page. Give them the opportunity to find a product that solves a problem.

Another aspect of Adsense related to earning is selecting the proper ad sizes. Different ad sizes in different locations perform in different ways. In fact, sometimes changing an ad format slightly can produce a significantly better result. Many advertisers find that large rectangles in content areas work best, while more traditional banners produce fewer clicks. The best way to generate more revenue is to continually test ad performance using split tests.

The way in which you display your ads also has an impact on earning potential. Whether you are using the standard colors or a blended palette does make a difference. Some sites do better blending their ads in look and feel, making it more difficult for browsers to differentiate between content and ads. Others feel that contrast is necessary for users to notice ads. This may discourage click throughs but if other factors are fine tunes can have the opposite affect generating significant online revenue.

Alter the number of ads you're running on your page. Should you only have one ad or multiple ads? This all depends on the layout of your site, flow of traffic, and ultimately how everything looks together. If you site is too clutter, people will leave. On the other hand, too bare and you may find that users ignore your ads. Continually test the number of ad placements to determine what is idea. I have found that 2 - 3 placements per page works best.

Work with the Adsense elements we discussing above for optimizing your Adsense revenue. Thing about the number and size of your ads as well as design and placement. By working with these factors and testing them regularly, you can find just the right combination that delivers ad revenue on a regular basis and soon you'll be making an Adsense income. - 33377
